Museums in the town park
Two museums are located in St.Gallen’s town park with regular exhibitions on art, nature, history and ethnology. There is also a rich range of visual arts, embracing 19th and 20th century painting and sculpture, international contemporary sculpture (Judd, Paik, Serra) and hosting temporary exhibitions by internationally famous artists.
St.Gallen Historical and Ethnological Museum

The historical section of the Historical and Ethnological Museum has the most important cultural history collection in north-eastern Switzerland.
- Ethnology
St.Gallen has the only and most important ethnological collection in the area between Zurich, Stuttgart and Munich. The reason is due to the role and importance of the textile industry in its heyday.
St.Gallen Art Museum
The St.Gallen Art Museum offers an attractive programme of exhibitions with an international flair.
St.Gallen Nature Museum
The collection of St.Gallen Nature Museum has a range of material, primarily from the 19th century, that is important in scientific and cultural history terms The museum concentrates on birds, plants and insects.
Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen
Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen has a particular position within the Swiss art scene: it can be described as the smallest of the larger institutions for contemporary art or - conversely - the largest of the smaller exhibitiors. This is where opposing opportunities, expectations and emotions meet and mix.
Lagerhaus Museum/ Schweizerische Naive Kunst and Art Brut Foundation
The Lagerhaus Museum was opened in May 1988. The purpose of the foundation and museum is to awaken and boost interest and understanding for the different areas of Outsider Art.
Textile Museum
The textile museum at the heart of the town accommodates a textiles and patterns collection of international repute. Exhibitions of historical lace, embroidery and fabrics alternate with presentations of contemporary textile art and textiles from today’s industrial production.
