The HSG’s appellate bodies The most important first-instance appellate bodies at the University of St.Gallen are the Disciplinary Committee and the Appeal Committee. Appointments to these appellate bodies are governed by the University Act and the University Statutes. Disciplinary Committee The Disciplinary Committee consists of a chairperson who is neither employed by nor matriculated at the University, two full professors and one member each of the Junior Faculty and the Student Union. The Disciplinary Committee adjudicates in cases of culpable infringements of the University’s regulations. Appeal Committee The Appeal Committee consists of four full professors as members, one of whom is the chairperson, and a representative each of the Junior Faculty and the Student Union. The Appeal Committee rules in appeals against decisions made by University organs on the strength of course or examination regulations. Further University appellate bodies and arbitration procedures In the case of any other issue, appeals at first instance can be lodged with the Senate Committee. However, these disputes should primarily be settled amicably with the help of the competent arbitration board . The final intramural appellate instance is the University’s Board of Governors. Advisory services, Ombudsman’s Office, Whistleblowing Office, Research Committee Our various advisory services can advise you on matters relating to studies and working at the University of St.Gallen, but also on personal needs and problems. The purpose of the Ombudsman’s Office is to promote trust between University members and to solve conflicts informally. The independent Whistleblowing Office can be contacted in the event of suspicion of illegal actions or unfair conduct. Employees of HSG and its institutes and research centres, students and external partners can use the Whistleblowing Office if they wish to report suspected or actual violations. If the integrity of academic work has been violated, the appropriate contact point is the President of the Research Committee.
